Roger was born in Berwyn, Illinois and was raised in Chicago’s western suburbs. He earned a Bachelor of Science in accounting from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana in 1983, passed the CPA exam in May 1983, and earned his law degree (Juris Doctor) at IIT-Chicago Kent College of Law (with high honors) in 1986. He is also a licensed Illinois real estate broker.
Roger’s legal career has included stints with large and medium-sized law firms before deciding to start his own practice nearly 13 years ago. His practice is concentrated in income tax, commercial real estate, estate planning, corporate law, and general representation of various business entities and their principals. He also has extensive experience in restructuring distressed and non-performing loans on behalf of lenders as well as representing lenders in real estate foreclosure matters. Roger serves on the board of several not-for-profit organizations.
In 1988, Roger and a fellow attorney started the firm Toussaint & Carlson, Ltd. Today, Carlson Partners, Ltd. is located in Lombard, has achieved success in the areas of corporate law, lender representation, commercial and residential real estate, corporate and residential condominium representation and development and estate planning.

David Tanner focuses his practice primarily in the areas of commercial real estate and corporate law, with a particular focus on: real estate acquisition, disposition, and development, including retail, office and industrial leasing, and property management; business planning, corporate formation and corporate acquisitions and dispositions for a variety of clients, including private equity clients and closely held businesses; representing both lenders and borrowers in commercial financing transactions, including loan workouts and restructurings; and the representation of developers, contractors, and subcontractors, in mechanics’ lien and bond claim matters.
Prior to joining Toussaint & Carlson, Ltd., David was a partner with Daspin & Aument, LLP in Chicago, Illinois where he focused primarily on commercial real estate transactions involving acquisitions, dispositions, leasing and financing of a variety of real estate asset classes, including retail, office, industrial, multi-family, and mixed use projects. In addition, David represented borrowers engaged in obtaining and refinancing construction, permanent, syndicated and other credit facilities totaling more than $300 million in loans. Prior to Daspin & Aument, LLP, David was an Associate with Gardner, Carton & Douglas, LLP (now known as Drinker, Biddle & Reath LLP) in Chicago, Illinois where he focused primarily on representing the commercial real estate needs of the largest retailer in the United States as well as those of the largest home builder in the United States. David also represented an Illinois pension fund in a variety of commercial real estate transactions. David spent considerable time negotiating and drafting loan documents on behalf of lenders who made secured loans to borrowers in the real estate industry.
David is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers, the American Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association. In 2008, David was named Illinois Super Lawyers Rising Star.

Jason was born in Park Ridge, Illinois and was raised in Bolingbrook. After studying for two years at Lewis University in Romeoville, he completed his undergraduate studies at Northern Illinois University, graduating from its School of Business in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing. He attended law school at Northern Illinois University where he earned his Juris Doctor with honors (Cum Laude) in 2001. At Northern Illinois University’s School of Law he was recognized for graduating first in his class in the business sequence of law courses.
Jason was admitted to practice law in the state of Illinois in 2001. In January 2002, he was admitted to practice in the United States District Court of the Northern District of Illinois.
His practice is concentrated in estate planning and estate administration, commercial and residential real estate (including "work outs" (forbearance, foreclosure, short sale, and deed-in-lieu agreements)), business transactions, and general representation of business entities and their principals. Prior to joining Toussaint & Carlson in 2004, Jason was a litigator in a firm in Aurora, Illinois, and he brings that experience as an invaluable tool in assisting his clients in his current practice. He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association.
Jason is a licensed real estate broker in the state of Illinois and a member of the National Association of Realtors and the Realtor Association of Northwest Chicagoland.

John concentrates his practice on business and health care litigation matters. He has extensive experience litigating a broad range of business disputes in the trial and appellate courts throughout the country. John regularly represents individuals and businesses in disputes involving claims of breach of contract, unfair competition, trade secret misappropriation, antitrust violations and breach of fiduciary duty. His practice also includes counseling clients with respect to the enforceability of non-compete agreements and, where necessary, litigating these matters in court proceedings. John has been involved in numerous litigated mortgage foreclosure actions as well as "workout" transactions arising from mortgage defaults by borrowers. John has experience with motions for relief from stay in bankruptcy litigation following bankruptcy filings by borrowers. John also has substantial experience in bankruptcy litigation matters having served as litigation counsel to a Chapter 11 Trustee in more than 30 adversary proceedings.
In the health care litigation arena, John has prosecuted and defended antitrust claims between competing health plans, between hospitals and physicians, and between hospitals systems. He has also litigated matters involving the suspension or revocation of physician staff privileges, as well as disputes arising from physician peer review proceedings. Additionally, John was one of the lead trial attorneys representing a nonprofit hospital before the Illinois Department of Revenue following the unprecedented revocation of its tax-exempt status.
John’s prior experience includes more than 13 years practicing with a large law firm, including five years as a partner. Prior to entering private practice, John served for two years as a judicial law clerk for a federal district court judge.
